Calfee Design is a bicycle manufacturer located near Santa Cruz, California. Starting out in 1989, founder Craig Calfee built innovative carbon frames which helped international cycling champion Greg LeMond to ride in the leader’s yellow jersey in the 1991 Tour de France. Craig then expanded his skill set to include producing bamboo frames. Bringing his expertise to Ghana and Zambia, Craig has recently started Bamboosero – an initiative aimed to have bamboo bicycles produced in Africa.

Akvo is an open source platform for water and sanitation projects. Headquartered in The Hague, the not-for-profit foundation creates and shares Internet and mobile phone tools that for the first time make it easy for everyone to reach out and fund thousands of new water and sanitation projects.
The Resource Foundation is a U.S. nonprofit organization that has been facilitating charitable giving to Latin America and the Caribbean since 1987 in order to empower the region’s disadvantaged so they can gain the skills, knowledge and opportunities to improve their lives. TRF does so by partnering with high-impact local NGOs and selective donors worldwide to increase the self-reliance of the region’s poor. International World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. This year theme, Water for cities: responding to the urban challenge, aims to spotlight and encourage governments, organizations, communities, and individuals to actively engage in addressing the defy of urban water management.
